Few weeks ago began to appear videos of developers who had managed with Android Wear watches to receive notifications from an iPhone, so it began to spread the rumor that Google had such support in their platform for wearables but had not been announced yet, since it was reserved for a next update to be announced on the upcoming Google I/O 2015.
Fortunately, we won’t have to wait until this official announcement as some developers have already published guides and tools to connect any watch with Android Wear to iPhone and thus receive notifications and operate some functions of your phone from you watch without Root, Jailbreak or complicated configurations. We are going to do this.
We must have the following elements before starting the configuration:
- Smartwatch with Android Wear version 5.0 or higher
- iPhone with iOS version 8 or higher
- Android device synchronized with the smartwatch
- Download this app on your Android device
- Download this app on the iPhone
Once you have downloaded the app Aerlink: Wear Connect for iOS on your Android device, open it and he immediately asked us to open the clock app and activate the option “services iOS” from there.
Once activated the “services iOS” from the app in the Android Wear clock have the option of enable other options as information on battery and colored backgrounds. Now with this ready is time move to the iPhone.
Already on the iPhone must activate Bluetooth and have installed the app BLE Utility, open it and go to the “Peripheral” option located at the bottom of the screen. Doing this will appear a new card on our watch to search for devices, click on it and the clock will begin to search for the iPhone.
Once the clock is the iPhone, the clock will show us a code to synchronize, it will have to write it in the screen that will get on the iPhone for that task and with this we finished, our Android Wear Watch has been synchronized with your iPhone.
Now All notices that we receive on the iPhone appear us in the clock but they will only be notifications, the only one with which we can interact will be the incoming calls, in addition to listening to music through the iOS or Spotify apps we can control playback as well as the volume.
Another feature is that the clock will be connected to our Android and iPhone at the same time and you will receive two notifications, so you won’t need to disconnect and reconnect each time that you need it. Eye, you don’t need to have the Android with us so running iOS notifications.
Is certainly a good option while we wait for Google to announce the support of natively. Of course not being an official and authorized by Apple method we are faced with the risk of the app that makes this possible to be removed from the App Store, so the best practice is to download it as soon as possible to have the list option when you need it.
