Biometric iris reader: how does it work?

Recognition of the iris is very difficult to perform at a distance greater than a few meters. If the person being identified is not cooperating, identification may also be difficult.

As with other biometric photographic technologies, iris recognition is susceptible to poor image quality.

People who are blind, without eyes, or with any type of injury to the iris may not have iris recognition, requiring other means for identification.

Iris scanners and readers are easily expandable, scalable, and flexible. The stored data of an iris requires only 512 bytes of storage per iris, and even large databases do not compromise search speed or impair performance accuracy. It works in stand-alone mode and easily integrates into existing security systems.
