Directed by Professor Efigênia, who works in the field of Sociology, this work aims to assimilate the contents worked in the classroom with the daily life of us young people.
The proposed theme
Develop an album relating the youth with the Social Institutions, explaining the perspectives and controversies related to each one of them ”. For the execution of such, we used a material that came to appear at a great time.
The information contained here is based entirely on our research sources, as well as on the use of theoretical classes. It was up to us to research, read and pass on what was read to this material.
We hope that it is a pleasure to enjoy this, for you, dear readers, to whom we dedicate with great affection this work of ours.
Family
Currently, the young man has been standing out in family relationships. Children promote revolutions at home and, even minors, have an active voice where they live. All this because the current youth is better informed than the past generations, thanks to educational liberalization. Thus, young people are promoting positive behavioral changes for the family and society.
Generally, when a young member of the family begins to put his ideas into practice at home, a resistance is created by the parents, which gradually decreases, until they give in to their children’s arguments.
Church
“Young people are taking the opposite route to their parents: they have resumed their taste for going to church and today they make it a meeting point”; this is how the article that talks about young people in relation to the church begins. The change in the way religious cults are made, such as, for example, the musical styles adhered to religious music, won over the youth, who are more present in the cults. There is also a good percentage of young people who believe in a God, even though they do not have a religion.
In relation to these changes, there was a strong resistance on the part of the Catholic Church, which is a highly conservative institution, but which was already well diluted and today there is a greater acceptance of the changes – which were for the better.
state
Faced with a country full of injustice, poverty and other adjectives, and also seeing that nothing is being done to change this situation, really, as the article states, it makes you want to have lived in the times of the military dictatorship. Not because of the student movements themselves, but because of the willingness of young people at that time to change the country – which today is missing. Young people must do their homework (duties) and also organize themselves, as was the case at that time, to demand the rights of every citizen.
But for that it is necessary that we, young people, change our habits and mentalities. Reading more is part of that change. We are a people who do not have the habit of reading (Brazilians read, on average, two books a year, while in France, one reads, on average, nine). The young man has in mind that everything he had to do for the country has already been done by his parents, which is not true. Our parents did their part, fighting for direct elections. It is now up to us, to fight for democracy to the letter, to end the differences in our country so that in the future – not too close, unfortunately – our descendants can live in a more just, dignified, friendly world.
School
Young people devote much of their attention to this Social Institution, as more and more information is needed to have better chances in the job market and it is the role of the school to guide young people in the search for this information.
There is a lot of controversy among young people about the choice of the course and, consequently, of the career to follow. This is due to the growing number of new courses offered by universities. The topic is usually approached late in elementary schools (only in the third year of high school) and, to worsen the youth’s indecision, parents do not know how to act: some pressure; others argue that they don’t want to interfere with their child’s decision. Then, they stop guiding the young man.
Reading and obtaining information is the best method to pave the way for young people to university. Another thing that also helps is visiting universities, knowing the profile of the courses of most interest, attending a class and talking with professionals in the field.
Work
In a country where unemployment is still high, many young people dream of a good professional career and are looking for ways to get there. Although there are those who work out of necessity, there are also young people who start working at an early age aiming at their independence. There are not a few cases of teenagers who have already started their own business, as the report shows. Many of them have developed well in the business simulations that the specialized schools in the field propose (Junior Achievement) and have already started their own business.
It is a pity to be this type of opportunity for a few (and also luck). Generally, young people from the upper-middle class are able to engage with their own business early, in which the parents are able to keep them in branch schools and pay the initial capital for production.
Leisure
Among the majority of young people, the favorite leisure medium is internet cafes, computer game houses connected to a network. Few are those who have never been to one of these houses at least once. The most regular attend an average of three times a week and spend two and a half hours in front of the computer. The attractions are many, from games, internet access, blogs, instant communicators, to cafeterias within these establishments. The intention is to make the person stay there as long as possible.
Research shows that video games can have beneficial effects on young people, such as the development of visual and motor coordination, in addition to team spirit and the promotion of social interaction. However, too much time in front of the computer can cause health problems. There are also some games that are not recommended for all age groups because they are very violent. Experts recommend that parents visit these homes where their children go to to control the type of game they play and even the time they can spend having fun in front of the computer.
Conclusion
The position of young people within Brazilian society is not the worst – with their exceptions, of course. The passing of the years has shown a great awareness, in relation to the institutions closest to the young person, such as family, school and work. However, our research source showed a disregard for that institution that has the function of promoting the good of all: the State. The lack of social mobilization against governments has prevented politics in our country from evolving.
Questions of faith and religion are essential in the lives of young people, which may come as a big surprise, or proof that being able to choose is the best way. I say this by comparing the current Church institution with remote and ancient times. The Catholic Church practiced a totalitarian “religious dictatorship”, which punished those who circumvented its dogmas. Not so remotely, here in the 60s, where hip movements emerged, religion started to be left aside by our grandparents and even parents. This time served for all Religious Institutions to evolve in favor of winning over the young audience, who today make cults their meeting points.
Technology has been at the side of young people at all times, including leisure. Instant communication, social interaction. Machines have their beneficial powers in the adolescent’s life.
Appreciation of the study, concern for the career, good practice. Who knows, this is the formula for moving a country and being able, one day, to rest beside those we like.
